paying it forward

The Bigger Picture

Achieving success is wonderful, but helping those in need feels even better. Want believes that every child should have presents to open on the holidays, and that every girl should feel beautiful at her prom.

That's why we're committed to helping others in our community. In addition to donating money to charitable organizations in the neighbourhoods we serve, we regularly sponsor events, contribute gift certificates and take part in clothing drives. Our events are about style, of course, but they're also about being part of our community and helping the people who live in it. One of our favourite causes is the Children's Aid Corsage Project, where we help girls who can't afford prom dresses look fabulous and have the time of their lives.

Our business is driven by the heart. Otherwise, what's the point?

Toy Tea Season

We love being a part of several communities in the GTA because there are always so many ways to get involved & give back, and annual Holiday Toy Teas are one of our all time faves!

For seven years, the Country Toy Tea has organized a fabulous ladies-only event, and has to date provided about 7000 toys and raised in excess of $60,000 for local charities and shelters.

For the past 4 years, we've been thrilled to show our support... in style, with a fabulous Holiday fashion show!

All generous donations benefit organizations such as the Blue Door Shelter - Leeder Place Family Shelter, Pathways of York Region, The  Women's Centre of York Region and the Sandgate Women's Shelter.

And, as new members of the Oakville Community, we've also joined forces with the Oakville Toy Tea who celebrated their tenth year, in 2011!

Each year, family and friends are invited to enjoy tea, coffee, festive treats, and of course, a little Holiday Martini or two.

All generous donations are distributed to community organizations such as the Kerr Street Ministries, Halton Trauma Centre, Sexual Assault & Violence Intervention Services of Halton, The Halton Children's Aid Society, The Salvation Army and the Art House.

We All Gotta Eat!

In the 2010 Holiday season we were proud to participate in the Holiday Drive Challenge, benefiting the Daily Bread Food Bank.

The money we raised helped to benefit those who are hungry in our communities. In 2010, there were over 872,000 client visits to Daily Bread's member agencies food banks and meal programs (34% of whom were children). Thanks to the support of our friends and family, who aided our fundraising efforts on behalf of the Daily Bread Food Bank by making an online donation, we were able to reach our goal, and help those who face hunger every day in our communities.

All donations were very much appreciated, thank you again for all of your support!

Blue Hills Child and Family Centre

For the past three years, Want Boutique has generously contributed to the Blue Hills Child and Family Centre Holiday Drive.

This annual drive helps to provide underprivileged children and their families with food, clothing and gifts for the Holidays. Each year, we come together to support these families with several gifts, or a big ticket item from their wish list.

Due to the generosity of community partners, Blue Hills is able to provide for over 40 families, including 104 children, every Holiday season.

Project Sunshine

Regardless of the economic climate, here at Want, we never stop giving.

One organization in particular that is very close to our hearts is Project Sunshine.

This nonprofit organization provides free educational, recreational, and social programs to children and families living with medical challenges. We are so proud to contribute our ongoing support and help to raise proceeds for over 60, 000 kids in Canada who suffer from these critical impairments.

In addition to contributing to their annual events, such as the Sunshine Ball, Want took $10 from every sale generated as a result of our very own 10th Anniversary Celebration and donated it to fund these very special programs.

It is an absolute pleasure to partner with such a wonderful organization, and we will always continue to offer our support in any way we can!
